Action begins
The next few days will see the start of our Industrial
Action to further the campaign against the Single Status offer.

Action Looms
Following a YES/YES vote in our industrial action ballot
the Branch Executive Committee have met to discuss our strategy.
An Industrial Action Committee was formed and agreed a strategy
which will include both selective strike and other actions.
An Emergency General Meeting has been arranged. All members are

The branch have organised two meetings to allow members
to discuss recent developments in Single Status negotiations.

News
Letter
We have sent out a newsletter to all members. Included
in the mailing are a standard letter of protest against the application,
without consultation, of the new pay and grading model. Any member
wishing to be included in a collective grievance to protest this
unilateral action should follow the instructions on the letter.
We have also enclosed a letter for those wishing the Branches
help to lodge an appeal against their Job Evaluation.
These
will be posted on the website in full as soon as possible.

The ballot on single status closed at 12 noon today.

We are
asking members to lobby your employers and councillors.
Show our employers that we will NOT be bullied and threatened
into accepting drastic cuts in out terms and conditions. Come
along to the Council meeting:-

Single
Status ballot
Every
member affected by Single Status should receive a ballot paper
in the post over the next day or two. We urge you to use your
vote and return the ballot paper to the UNISON office before 12
noon on 29th February.
The Branch Executive Committee's recommendation is for rejection.
The paper which accompanied the paper and outlined the reasons
for this can be downloaded and read here.

Status ballot
Following
unanimous support for the branch's stance on the single status
offer, UNISON will be ballotting our members. Ballot papers will
be sent out tomorrow.
It is important that all members return their papers in order
that any action we take has the mandate of the membership.
The Branch is recommending that members REJECT
the offer.

A well attended meeting backed our branch negotiators
and voted to continue to press management to negotiate a settlement
based on the Approved Formal Offer which was put to us in February
